Cacao is also incredibly rich in vitamins and minerals that are crucial to optimal physical function of the body and mind.

Minerals
Magnesium
- regulates muscular contraction and relaxation, assists in new protein creation from amino acids.
Helps create and repair DNA and RNA as well as regulating neurotransmitter function in the brain.

Calcium - Crucial for the functioning of the heart, muscles and nervous system. Calcium is, as we know, fantastic for the bones, however the bones act as more of a calcium storage for the entire body so when our supplies are low the body begins to take from the bones.

Optimal calcium absorption requires adequate vitamin D

Iron
Iron helps to preserve general energy and focus as it assists in transporting oxygen to the muscles.
Iron assists digestive processes, supports the immune system and assists in the regulation of body temperature.
Consuming Vitamin C with plant based Iron sources increases its absorption in the body dramatically.

Zinc
Crucial for enzyme production and function - enzymes especially play a huge part in digestion, enhances gene expression and wound healing.

Copper
Works with iron to form red blood cells, as well as maintains healthy nerve cells, healthy blood vessels, bones and immune function by supporting white blood cell production. Supoports the healthy maintenance of collagen and elastin.

Potassium
Assists in regulation of muscular contraction and relaxation.
Certain components of potassium neutralise various acids in the body which can preserve calcium in the bones.
Maintains electrical conductivity in the brain especially important in relation to memory and learning centres.

Manganese
In combination with Calcium, Zinc and Copper, Manganese plays a crucial role in bone density.
Manganese is an essential cofactor for various enzymes in the body and also plays a role in the production of thyroxine.
Thyrozine regulates the body’s metabolic rate, heart and digestive functions, muscle control, brain development and maintenance of bones.

Vitamins
A
Assisting in converting light that hits your eye into an electrical signal to be sent to the brain. Assists in the function of mucous barriers in the eyes, lungs, gut and genitals.

B1
Essential for glucose metabolism and it plays a role in nerve, muscle and heart function.

B2
Helps convert carbohydrate into ATP for instant energy in the body.
Assists in the maintenance of mucous membranes in the body.

B3
Crucial for many digestive functions. Assists in healing and strengthening the skin and stimulates moisture retention in the skin.

C
Assists in the production of white blood cells thus boosting the immune system.
Actively assists in the skin's defence by strengthening its barriers.
Can improve cognitive function and memory.

Cacao has a really high concentration of antioxidant molecules, mainly flavonoids. The most abundant found in the form of Epicatechin. These substances display several beneficial actions on the brain. They enter the brain and induce stimulation mainly in regions involved in learning and memory. Epicatechin increases Nitric Oxide production which improves vascularity and blood flow. It regulates blood sugar levels and stimulates muscle healing, regeneration and growth.

With the vitamins and minerals to assist with endurance, energy, bone strength and density maintenance, muscle contraction and relaxation it truly was a food source design by nature for the warriors. Finished with Flavanoids that support vascularity and circulation to open the body to receive even more of its nutritional properties.

Cacao is a healthy and vibrant addition to your diet and in case you needed one - another reason to enjoy ceremonies more often.
